I often hear from people who are sure that their worst fear is going to come true. And when it comes to telogen effluvium, this is understandable. Because your reality has become large wads of hair in the shower drain and in your brush. Seeing all this hair loss day after day can become quite alarming. You can start to wonder if, at this rate, you’re going to go bald. And then you start to wonder if you should go wig shopping, just in case.
Unfortunately, there is one type of baldness that is unstoppable. If you have been diagnosed with male pattern baldness, well, it might be a good idea to learn to live with it. This is no case of abandon all hope, mind you, but this particular problem has very few solutions. But other causes may well be remedied with modern tools and ideas.
Deodorize a room. Simply place used coffee grounds that have been dried on a cookie sheet in an oven, in a shallow dish and place out of sight. Soon the unpleasant odors in the room will disappear to be replaced by a mild, soothing smell of coffee. Very effective!
There are a number of tricks to getting this to work. One of the basic tricks is a special drain. The special Kesmet has drain holes on two levels. The one level is right up there at the top. Just what you see when you look at the floor. The other drain holes are under the surface of the floor. Huh? See, that’s where the waterproof membrane routes the water that leaks through the floor. How do the drain holes stay open under the floor? It’s pea gravel…
If you choose to regrout, get a tile grout saw and remove the damaged grout as much as possible. Then work in new grout with a rubber grout trowel. Go over all the grout especially in the corners and the floor to make sure it’s all sound. Clean the tile and seal after it’s dry and you’re ready to try your shower pan liner repair.
Litter. The shower pan can be a great magnet for every fallen leaf. A simple wooden cover plate is a good idea to place over pan, and if possible locate the shower well away from trees.
Sometimes you need to get down into the system to perform successful drain cleaning. When a professional company comes out to clear up your pipes, they use specialized snakes to get down into the works and remove the clogs. A coat hanger acts as a crude replication of these tools. No, you won’t be able to get to the deeper clogs with this method, but it can be very effective in removing hair and soap scum that collects near the opening. Unscrew the cap and use a coat hanger, pliers, or anything else you need to get some of that mass out of the pipes. Careful, however, that you don’t wind up just pushing the clog further into the pipe.
No matter what design you choose, make sure that the trench shower drain is a high quality product. This will spare you a lot of trouble over the time. The right drain system will last you a lifetime.
